Pakistan Navy Conducts Advanced Combat Exercise in North Arabian Sea

KARACHI, Jan 10: The Pakistan Navy on Friday conducted a comprehensive operational exercise in the North Arabian Sea, reaffirming its combat readiness and ability to respond effectively to evolving maritime security challenges.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), the exercise demonstrated the Navy’s integration of modern conventional and unmanned warfare capabilities in line with contemporary naval combat requirements.

During the exercise, Pakistan Navy successfully carried out live firing of the LY-80(N) Surface-to-Air Missile from a Vertical Launch System at extended range.

The missile accurately engaged and neutralized an aerial target, validating the effectiveness and long-range air defence capability of the Navy’s modern combat platforms.

 

Precision strike capability was further demonstrated through the successful engagement of surface targets using Loitering Munition systems. The operation highlighted the Navy’s ability to conduct accurate and flexible strikes in complex maritime environments.

The exercise also marked a significant milestone in autonomous naval operations with successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The trials validated the platform’s performance in high-speed maneuvering, precision navigation, and resilience under challenging sea and weather conditions. The USV was assessed as a low-risk, high-impact asset capable of enhancing maritime surveillance and tactical interception missions.

Commander Pakistan Fleet, Vice Admiral Abdul Munib, witnessed the exercise and observed the operational employment of advanced naval systems.

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, commended officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy for their professionalism and operational competence. He reiterated the Navy’s commitment to ensuring the seaward defence of Pakistan and safeguarding national maritime interests under all circumstances.
