Pakistan-Made ‘Trionda’ Match Ball Brings Advanced Tracking Technology to FIFA World Cup 2026

3 Min Read

The official match ball for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature advanced tracking technology and will require charging before each match due to the electronic sensor embedded inside it.

The ball, named “Trionda,” has been designed by Adidas and manufactured in Pakistan by Future Sport, a company based in Sialkot. The technology is intended to improve decision-making during matches by providing real-time data to match officials and video review systems.

Built-In Sensor Tracks Every Touch

The ball contains a specialized sensor that records its movement, position, and every player interaction during a game. The data is transmitted in real time and integrated with the tournament’s officiating systems.

The sensor works alongside 12 high-tech stadium cameras that collect information on the ball and players up to 50 times per second, creating a detailed tracking system throughout each match.

Supporting VAR and Offside Decisions

According to reports, the data generated by the ball will assist Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials in making more accurate offside and goal-line decisions.

The technology is designed to reduce uncertainty in key match incidents by providing additional data points that can be used during video reviews.

Compared with the ball used at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the new sensor has been installed directly inside one of the ball’s panels, allowing for improved performance while maintaining the ball’s traditional playing characteristics.

Designed for Performance and Innovation

Despite the addition of advanced electronics, the ball’s weight remains largely unchanged, and players are not expected to notice the presence of the sensor during matches.

Football technology experts say the innovation represents another step forward in the integration of data-driven tools within the sport.

Made in Pakistan’s Football Manufacturing Hub

The Trionda match ball has been produced by Future Sport in Sialkot, a city internationally recognized for football manufacturing.

The company has previously manufactured official FIFA World Cup match balls used in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 tournaments.

The ball’s design incorporates red, blue, and green colors along with symbols representing the three host nations. Maple leaves represent Canada, an eagle symbolizes Mexico, and stars reflect the United States. According to Adidas, the design pattern is intended to represent unity among the host countries.
