ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have launched an international coaching and athlete development programme to promote Qazaq Kuresi, marking a new step in sports cooperation between the two countries.
The seven-day programme was inaugurated at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin. The initiative is being organized by the Pakistan Qazaq Kuresi Federation (PQKF) in collaboration with the Qazaq Kuresi Association of Kazakhstan.
International Coaches to Train Pakistani Athletes
The opening ceremony was attended by Colonel Nabeel Ahmed Rana, Deputy Director of the Army Fitness and Sports Directorate, Major Naveed Afzal, Secretary General of the Pakistan Qazaq Kuresi Federation, and Kazakh coaches Damir Budanbekov and Nurzhan Kondybayev, along with athletes, coaches and sports officials.
The programme is designed to enhance coaching standards, athlete development and technical expertise in Qazaq Kuresi across Pakistan.
Kazakhstan Reaffirms Sports Partnership
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin said Kazakhstan is committed to expanding sports cooperation with Pakistan.
He said the establishment of the Dostyk Sports Centre reflects the shared commitment of both countries to promoting sports diplomacy and strengthening bilateral ties through athletic exchanges. He also expressed hope that Pakistani athletes would compete successfully at future Olympic Games.
Focus on Athlete Development
Major Naveed Afzal said the initiative reflects the growing friendship between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and demonstrates the federation’s commitment to developing Qazaq Kuresi nationwide.
He said the partnership would help improve technical standards, provide international training opportunities for athletes and coaches, and create pathways for Pakistani competitors to participate in global events.
