Rawalpindi : Pakistan joins the international community in commemorating the International Day of Peacekeepers and paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served in United Nations peacekeeping missions around the world.
Pakistan is one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping forces, with approximately 3,000 peacekeepers currently serving in missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Abyei, Central African Republic, Cyprus, Western Sahara and Somalia.
Pakistan is proud of its longstanding commitment to UN peacekeeping. Our peacekeeping troops have demonstrated exceptional courage, professionalism and determination to promote peace and stability in conflict-torn areas. A total of 181 Pakistani peacekeepers made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Pakistan also remains committed to the United Nations Unified Gender Parity Strategy (UGPS) for better representation of women in uniform, an initiative of the Secretary-General Action for peace (A4P) that seeks to improve the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping operations by strengthening their capacity. , coherence and responsiveness.
