RAWALPINDI: Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, with both sides discussing regional security, bilateral cooperation and effective border management.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest as well as measures to strengthen coordination between Pakistan and Iran.
The two sides also reviewed the broader regional security environment and discussed ways to improve cooperation along the shared border.
During the meeting, the Iranian interior minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and encourage de-escalation.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination and strengthening cooperative mechanisms for regional security and mutual prosperity.
Pakistan and Iran share a long border and have repeatedly emphasised the need for closer coordination to address cross-border security challenges, smuggling and militant activity.
The latest meeting reflects continuing engagement between Islamabad and Tehran on security, border management and regional stability.
