A viral social media video showcasing the ancestral home of veteran Bollywood actor Sunil Dutt in Pakistan’s Jhelum district has attracted widespread attention from audiences in both Pakistan and India. The video has also prompted many social media users to tag actor Sanjay Dutt, inviting him to visit his family’s ancestral village.
The footage, shared by Pakistani content creator Sameel Atif, highlights a historic house in Jhelum where Sunil Dutt spent his childhood before the Partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947.

According to reports, the ancestral house is located in Khurd village in Jhelum district.
Sunil Dutt, born Balraj Dutt, spent his early years in the village before his family migrated to India during Partition. He later became one of Bollywood’s most respected actors and went on to serve as a member of the Indian Parliament.
Family roots linked to present-day Pakistan
The story has renewed interest in the Dutt family’s historical ties to present-day Pakistan.
Sanjay Dutt’s mother, legendary actress Nargis Dutt, also had roots in Rawalpindi, meaning both of the actor’s parents were born in areas that are now part of Pakistan.
Sunil Dutt’s emotional connection to his birthplace
In his post, Sameel Atif wrote that the ancestral home still stands in the village where Sunil Dutt spent his childhood.
He also claimed that when Sunil Dutt visited his ancestral village years after Partition, he requested the current owners to preserve the house in its original form so future generations could remember their shared history.
The video also includes a past statement by Sanjay Dutt, in which he recalled his father’s emotional attachment to his birthplace. According to Sanjay Dutt, whenever Sunil Dutt felt nostalgic, he would say, “I want to go home,” referring not to Mumbai but to his hometown in Jhelum.
