Rawalpindi, Jan 12 — Pakistan and Indonesia have reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, with a particular focus on air force collaboration, capacity building and technological advancement.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a high-level defence delegation led by Indonesia’s Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. The visit followed the recent state visit of the Indonesian President, underscoring growing strategic engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Indonesia and discussed avenues to further enhance bilateral cooperation between their air forces. The discussions focused on training, capacity building, and technological collaboration, reflecting shared priorities in defence preparedness and regional security.
The Air Chief briefed the Indonesian delegation on the Pakistan Air Force’s ongoing modernisation drive, highlighting infrastructure development, revamped training frameworks, and the induction of niche capabilities aimed at enhancing readiness for multi-domain operations.

The Indonesian Defence Minister lauded the professionalism, operational readiness and indigenisation achievements of the Pakistan Air Force, particularly under the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park initiative. He expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation in the fields of training, aviation and aerospace, signalling potential for deeper institutional collaboration.
ISPR said the meeting reflected the positive momentum in Pakistan–Indonesia defence relations and a shared resolve to further strengthen ties through sustained engagement, dialogue and practical cooperation.
