Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani says Pakistan hockey is showing signs of revival in 2026, with the federation expanding its focus on both men’s and women’s development while strengthening grassroots programs and international exposure.
According to the PHF, the federation is investing in long-term player development and plans to appoint an international coach for the Pakistan women’s hockey team in the coming months as part of efforts to improve competitiveness at the global level.
PHF Expands Focus on Women’s Hockey
Wani said the federation is giving equal attention to the development of women’s hockey alongside the men’s game.
He said PHF is working to establish a sustainable player development pathway from the grassroots level to the national team, aiming to strengthen the future of women’s hockey in Pakistan.
International Exposure for Young Players
The PHF president said the successful staging of the National Under-21 Women’s Hockey Championship has provided opportunities for emerging players.
Pakistan’s Under-21 women’s team recently represented the country in a junior tournament in Oman and is also competing in the ongoing Under-18 championship there, gaining valuable international experience.
International Coach Planned for Women’s Team
Wani said PHF intends to recruit a world-class international coach for the Pakistan women’s hockey team in the coming months to provide modern, specialized training.
He added that the federation will continue investing in fitness, technical skills, tactical development, sports science and modern technology to improve the performance of both junior and senior women’s teams.
According to Wani, PHF’s long-term objective is to build a competitive women’s national team capable of achieving success in international competitions and contributing to the revival of Pakistan’s hockey legacy.
