Pakistan white-ball team’s fielding coach Shane McDermott has resigned from his position, according to sources, ending his tenure before the completion of his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Sources said McDermott has submitted his resignation to the PCB, citing personal commitments. His departure comes as Pakistan prepares for a busy international cricket calendar.

Resignation Reportedly Linked to Personal Commitments

According to sources, the Australian coach decided to step down due to personal reasons. He had recently travelled to Australia after taking leave from his coaching duties.

McDermott joined the Pakistan men’s white-ball team as fielding coach on July 5, 2025, under a three-year agreement with the PCB.

Departure Before Contract Expiry

Sources said McDermott resigned before completing the full term of his contract.

During his tenure, Pakistan’s fielding performances were widely regarded as having improved, with observers crediting the coaching staff for raising fielding standards in the white-ball setup.

PCB Yet to Announce Replacement

The Pakistan Cricket Board has not officially announced a replacement for McDermott.

His departure means the PCB is expected to begin the process of appointing a new fielding coach as the national team prepares for upcoming international assignments.
