ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned an attack on the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah, highlighting that the civilian facility supplies electricity to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.
The Foreign Office said the September 29 attack was carried out by the Houthi militia and described the targeting of infrastructure serving the Holy Mosque as a grave provocation and a matter of deep concern for millions of Muslims around the world.
Pakistan stressed that the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of worshippers and pilgrims must be respected under all circumstances.
The Foreign Office called for an immediate and unconditional end to such actions, saying they posed a serious threat to regional peace and security.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and expressed full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
Islamabad said it stood firmly with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to safeguard the Two Holy Mosques, protect its citizens and ensure the safety of pilgrims.
The Foreign Office added that Pakistan would continue its efforts for lasting peace and stability in the region.
