Rawalpindi — Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and principled diplomacy during the closing ceremony of the Islamabad Symposium 2025 held at NUST on Thursday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event organised by the National Institute of Policy Studies (NIPS), General Mirza expressed gratitude to the speakers and panelists for their “valuable insights” and highlighted the importance of understanding the evolving global and regional landscape.

He said Pakistan seeks to promote harmony and balance between the Global North and Global South “through dialogue, dignity, and principled diplomacy.” Stressing the importance of replacing confrontation with cooperation, he noted that Pakistan’s foreign policy is guided by a vision of coexistence grounded in mutual respect and adherence to international law.

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding stance on international disputes, the CJCSC emphasised the country’s consistent support for the just and peaceful resolution of issues, including those of Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir.

“Standing at the crossroads of regions and civilizations, Pakistan continues to uphold restraint and constructive engagement — seeking to bridge divides and foster a balanced global order built on justice, equity and mutual respect,” he said.

The symposium brought together members of academia, senior bureaucrats, foreign ambassadors, representatives from the business community, students, and faculty from leading universities across the country.
