Pakistan Car Sales Surge 41% in First Two Months of Fiscal Year

KARACHI: Pakistan’s automobile market has recorded a strong increase in vehicle sales, with car sales rising 41% year-on-year to 35,376 units during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

According to financial data, a total of 15,558 cars were sold across the country in August, representing an 11% increase compared with the same month last year. The figures indicate stronger demand in the local auto market.

Suzuki Alto Leads Sales

Suzuki Alto remained among the strongest-selling models, with its sales increasing 27% year-on-year to 5,339 units in August.

Honda also recorded a significant improvement, with sales rising to 2,633 units, nearly two and a half times higher than the previous year. Overall Honda sales during August reached 4,029 units, up 19%.

Hyundai Nishat Motors was the only major company to report a decline in annual sales, which fell 39% to 742 units.

Two-Wheeler and Commercial Vehicle Sales Rise

Sales of motorcycles and rickshaws also increased, rising 20% to 178,119 units during August.

Meanwhile, sales of commercial vehicles, trucks and buses grew 31% year-on-year, with a total of 875 units sold.

Tractor sales increased 6% annually, although they declined 15% on a month-on-month basis.

The latest figures point to broad-based growth across several segments of Pakistan’s automobile market during the opening months of the fiscal year.
