Pakistan begin U18 Asia Cup campaign with 3-0 win over China

KAKAMIGAHARA: Pakistan made an impressive start to their U18 Asia Cup hockey campaign by defeating China 3-0 in their opening group-stage match on Saturday in Japan.

The victory gives Pakistan early momentum in the tournament, which runs in Kakamigahara until June 6, and strengthens their position as they pursue qualification for the knockout stages.

Pakistan took control from the opening minutes and translated their dominance into an early lead when Usman found the net in the sixth minute.

Adeel doubled Pakistan’s advantage five minutes later, scoring in the 11th minute to put China under pressure heading into the remainder of the contest.

Pakistan maintain control

Pakistan continued to dictate play throughout the match, creating opportunities while maintaining a disciplined defensive structure.

China struggled to break through Pakistan’s defence, with the goalkeeper and backline producing a composed performance to preserve a clean sheet.

Yaseen added a third goal in the 56th minute to complete the scoring and secure a comfortable victory for Pakistan.

Asnan named player of the match

Pakistan’s Asnan was named Player of the Match after an influential performance that contributed to both attacking moves and overall team play.

The result gives Pakistan a positive start to the U18 Asia Cup as they prepare for the remaining group-stage fixtures.

Pakistan are scheduled to face Malaysia in their next group match before taking on Bangladesh on June 3.

The tournament’s final and third-place playoff matches will be played on June 6.
