Pakistan Armed Forces Mark 27th Martyrdom Anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed

RAWALPINDI, July 5, 2026: The Pakistan Armed Forces on Sunday commemorated the 27th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, paying tribute to the Nishan-e-Haider recipient for his courage and sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil conflict.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, and the armed forces collectively honored the fallen officer’s service to the country.

Tribute to a Kargil War Hero

ISPR said Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed displayed exceptional bravery and leadership while defending Pakistan during the Kargil conflict in 1999. It stated that he led from the front despite difficult battlefield conditions and embraced martyrdom while carrying out his duties.

The military’s media wing described his sacrifice as a lasting symbol of courage, patriotism and dedication to national service, noting that his actions continue to be remembered across the country.

Armed Forces Reaffirm Commitment

According to ISPR, the armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to the values and ideals for which Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed laid down his life.

The statement said his legacy remains an enduring part of Pakistan’s military history and continues to inspire future generations through his service, leadership and sacrifice.
