ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected allegations made by a representative of the Afghan Taliban, describing the claims as misleading and accusing the Taliban regime of attempting to conceal attacks on civilians along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.
According to the ministry, the statement issued by the so-called deputy spokesperson of the Afghan Taliban is an attempt to deflect attention from what Pakistan says was a deliberate attack on civilians in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Civilian casualties reported in Bajaur
Officials said that on March 15, 2026, at around 3:30pm, the Afghan Taliban targeted civilian areas in Tabesta Letai of the Salarzai region in Bajaur district.
According to the statement, four civilians were killed in the attack, while a five-year-old child was critically injured.
The ministry described the incident as a serious act of violence against civilians living along the border region.

Pakistan rejects allegations
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also rejected claims regarding Pakistan’s recent military operations, stating that the Pakistan Armed Forces had targeted only militant hideouts and infrastructure.
Officials said the operation carried out during the night of March 14–15 was directed at alleged militant facilities and technical equipment linked to groups described as proxies operating from Kandahar. Visual evidence of the operation had already been released publicly, the ministry added.
Criticism of alleged misinformation
The statement further accused the Afghan Taliban authorities of spreading misleading information and using outdated or manipulated images to support their claims.
According to the ministry, repeated dissemination of false information by official Afghan Taliban channels risks damaging their credibility both domestically and internationally.
Officials emphasized that Pakistan’s security operations and related information are communicated transparently to the public.
