Orakzai Martyrs Funeral Held with Full Military Honours

Rawalpindi: The funeral prayer of Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq (age 39) and Major Tayyab Rahat (age 33), both hailing from District Rawalpindi, was offered today at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi. The two officers were among 11 brave Pakistan Army personnel who embraced martyrdom in Orakzai District during an intelligence-based operation against Khwarij linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij.

The Orakzai martyrs funeral was attended by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, senior federal ministers, civil and military officers, and members of the public.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the fallen soldiers and reaffirmed that the Pakistani nation stands resolute and firm against the menace of terrorism. He stated that the Shuhadas’ ultimate sacrifice is a reminder of the unwavering resolve of the nation to defend the motherland at all costs.

The martyrs will be laid to rest in their native towns with full military honours, in line with the Pakistan Army’s tradition of honouring those who lay down their lives in service to the country.
