A man and his second wife were shot dead in Nowshera’s Misri Banda area in what police believe was a dispute linked to his second marriage.
Police identified the man as Matiullah, a resident of Swat who had moved to Misri Banda after marrying for a second time. The couple’s bodies were taken to Qazi Medical Complex in Nowshera for post-mortem examinations.
According to preliminary police findings, the brothers of Matiullah’s first wife allegedly travelled to Misri Banda and opened fire on the couple during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
The suspects fled after the shooting, police said. No arrests had been announced at the time of reporting.
Police have described the second marriage as the suspected motive, although investigators are still examining the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Misri Banda police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved.
