Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has been summoned by a Delhi court to appear as a prosecution witness in a Rs2 billion extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, according to Indian media reports.

The actress has been directed to appear before the court on November 2. Her name has been included as prosecution witness LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet filed in the case.

Details of the Rs2 Billion Extortion Case

The high-profile case centres on allegations that Chandrashekhar extorted approximately Rs2 billion between 2020 and 2021 from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.

Investigators allege that Chandrashekhar impersonated senior government officials while incarcerated at Delhi’s Rohini Jail. He allegedly convinced Aditi Singh that he could secure her husband’s release from prison in exchange for money.

The Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing investigated the alleged extortion and filed charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Nora Fatehi Previously Questioned

Investigators had previously questioned Nora Fatehi over her alleged connections with Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paul.

Her statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Investigators subsequently included her as a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet.

According to reports, Fatehi told investigators that Chandrashekhar’s wife had facilitated her interactions or meetings with him. Investigators also questioned her about an event held in Chennai in December 2020.

Court Appearance Part of Ongoing Proceedings

Fatehi’s inclusion as a prosecution witness means her scheduled appearance is part of the ongoing judicial proceedings in the extortion case. The allegations against Chandrashekhar remain subject to the court process, and the actress’s designation as a witness does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing on her part.
