ATTOCK: Wildlife officials have clarified that wild boars did not attack women near Fateh Jang after a video circulating on social media prompted concern among local residents.
Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Attock Rizwana Aziz took notice of reports claiming that wild boars had attacked women collecting water from the Baba Mian well on Tehsil Road near Fateh Jang city.
She visited the area and spoke to local residents to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
According to the residents, the animals did not attack the women. Instead, the women became frightened after suddenly seeing wild boars in the area.
Residents Urged to Exercise Caution
Rizwana Aziz said wild boars generally avoid people and do not usually attack humans without provocation.
She explained that an animal might react defensively if it is disturbed, cornered or feels threatened, particularly when a female is accompanied by her young.
Residents, especially women visiting the well to collect water, were advised to travel during daylight hours—after sunrise and before sunset—when visibility is better and the risk of an unexpected encounter is lower.
The wildlife official also urged people to maintain a safe distance from wild animals and avoid attempting to chase, tease or confront them.
Public Asked Not to Spread Unverified Claims
Wildlife authorities appealed to citizens not to circulate unverified reports, videos or rumours about wildlife incidents on social media.
Officials said misleading information could create unnecessary panic and potentially provoke harmful action against wild animals.
Residents were advised to immediately inform the relevant wildlife or emergency authorities if an animal enters a populated area or poses a potential threat.
