KARACHI: Chairman Jinnah Town Rizwan Abdul Samie has inaugurated a modern Alkhidmat Foundation Water Filtration Plant in Al Hilal Society, UC-7, aimed at improving access to safe drinking water for thousands of residents in the area and surrounding neighbourhoods.
The project was launched in collaboration with Alkhidmat Foundation as part of efforts to expand access to clean and safe drinking water and strengthen community welfare initiatives.
Public representatives attend inauguration
The inauguration ceremony was attended by UC-7 Chairman Saleem Umar Kapadia, local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, social workers, community representatives and residents.
Participants described the project as an important welfare initiative that will provide clean, safe and quality drinking water to local communities.
Clean water is a basic right, says chairman
Addressing the ceremony, Rizwan Abdul Samie said access to safe drinking water is a fundamental right of every citizen and a shared responsibility of public institutions and welfare organizations.
He praised Alkhidmat Foundation for its contribution to public welfare, saying such partnerships help extend essential services to underserved communities.
He added that clean water projects not only improve daily life but also contribute to public health by helping prevent waterborne diseases.
Emphasis on public-private collaboration
The chairman said stronger cooperation between local government institutions and charitable organizations is essential for addressing urban challenges through sustainable solutions.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting public welfare projects, improving municipal services and expanding initiatives that enhance residents’ quality of life across Jinnah Town.
Following the ceremony, Rizwan Abdul Samie inspected the water filtration plant, expressed satisfaction with its facilities and congratulated the Alkhidmat Foundation team on the completion of the project.
According to officials, the filtration plant is expected to provide a continuous supply of clean and safe drinking water to thousands of residents in Al Hilal Society and nearby areas.
