ABBOTTABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has launched a district-wide tourist safety awareness campaign across Abbottabad to promote safe and responsible travel during the peak tourism season.

The campaign, launched in collaboration with the Tourism Police, aims to reduce accidents at popular tourist attractions by educating visitors about essential safety precautions and emergency response measures.

Campaign launched at Hazara Motorway interchange

The initiative was formally inaugurated at the Abbottabad Interchange on the Hazara Motorway before awareness teams travelled to major tourist destinations, including Harno, Azizabad and Nathia Gali.

During the visits, officials distributed safety awareness pamphlets and briefed tourists on measures to help prevent accidents while exploring the region.

Tourists advised to follow safety guidelines

As part of the campaign, visitors were advised not to leave children unattended near rivers, streams or lakes and to avoid unnecessary visits to riverbanks.

Officials also urged tourists to refrain from swimming in deep or fast-flowing water, remain cautious during rainfall, avoid travelling to landslide-prone areas and check weather forecasts before starting their journeys.

Emergency helplines highlighted

The campaign also encourages tourists to wear life jackets while boating and avoid driving vehicles into rivers or streams.

In case of emergencies, visitors have been advised to contact the Tourist Helpline (1422) or the Tourism Police Helpline (911) for immediate assistance.

According to KPCTA officials, the awareness drive is designed to improve public safety, minimize tourism-related accidents and encourage responsible travel while allowing visitors to enjoy Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s natural attractions.
