Pakistani actress Nazish Jahangir has opened up about her relationship with her stepmother, revealing that it initially took her time to accept the relationship.
Jahangir previously played the role of a stepmother in ARY Digital’s drama serial Toota Hua Dil, in which she portrayed the second wife of a character played by Agha Ali and a mother to his daughter.
During a recent appearance on a television show, the actress spoke candidly about her own experience with having a stepmother and explained how it influenced her portrayal of the character.
Jahangir said she also has a stepmother in real life and has previously spoken about her on other television programmes.
The actress challenged the common perception that all stepmothers are bad, describing it as a narrative created by society. She said her father remarried after her mother passed away and that her stepmother has taken good care of the family.
According to Jahangir, her stepmother works hard and looks after her father, which made her realize that stepmothers should not automatically be viewed negatively.
The actress admitted that accepting the relationship was difficult for her initially, but her stepmother eventually proved herself and earned a special place in her heart.
Jahangir also said that while playing the stepmother in Toota Hua Dil, she began relating the fictional character to her own family experience. She recalled calling her stepmother and telling her that she now understood the circumstances and challenges she may have gone through.
