Pakistani actress Nazish Jahangir has spoken about her relationship with her stepmother, saying that social perceptions about stepmothers do not always reflect reality.
In a recent interview, the actress opened up about her personal experience and said she also has a stepmother in real life.
Nazish said that after her mother passed away, her father remarried and her stepmother became an important part of the family.
She said her stepmother takes good care of the entire family and also looks after her father, adding that her experience did not support the common perception that stepmothers are necessarily unkind.
The actress acknowledged that it initially took her some time to accept the new relationship. However, she said her stepmother’s behaviour gradually helped her develop trust and allowed her to build a close bond with her.
Nazish also recalled playing the role of a stepmother in a drama and said the experience made her reflect on her own relationship.
She said the role gave her a better understanding of what her stepmother might have experienced, prompting her to call her and tell her that she could now appreciate the circumstances she had gone through.
