ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced four special facilities for citizens aged 60 and above, aimed at making access to identity documents and registration services easier for senior citizens.
According to an awareness message issued by NADRA, dedicated priority counters are available for senior citizens at NADRA offices across the country. These counters are intended to provide elderly visitors with easier and faster access to services.
Home-Based Service for Senior Citizens
NADRA also offers a Mobile Van/“Main Pak” service for elderly citizens who are unable to visit NADRA offices because of age or physical limitations. Eligible senior citizens can receive certain NADRA services at home, reducing the need to travel to an office.
Facial Recognition for Faded Fingerprints
NADRA has also provided an alternative for senior citizens who face difficulties with fingerprint verification.
According to the authority, fingerprints can become faint with age, making conventional biometric verification difficult. In such cases, facial recognition can be used for identity verification, subject to NADRA’s applicable procedures.
Lifetime CNIC for Citizens Over 60
Another facility concerns the validity of identity cards. According to NADRA, a CNIC issued after a citizen reaches 60 years of age is valid for life, meaning it does not require the usual renewal after a fixed validity period.
NADRA has advised senior citizens to contact their relevant NADRA centre for information and assistance regarding these facilities and identity-document services.
