MARDAN: A recreational and study tour to Murree and Nathia Gali was organised for persons with disabilities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing participants with an opportunity to enjoy nature, relax and take part in positive social activities.

The tour was arranged by Dua Welfare SNAP Organization and Helping Hand in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and the Directorate General of Sports.

A large number of men and women with disabilities from Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan participated in the tour and visited several scenic destinations in Murree and Nathia Gali.

The organisers said the primary objective was to provide persons with disabilities with opportunities for recreation, mental relaxation and healthy activities away from the routine challenges of daily life, while enabling them to experience the country’s tourist attractions alongside other members of society.

Participants said such activities can contribute to greater happiness, self-confidence, social interaction and a stronger sense of belonging among persons with disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Team Leader Ahmed Sajjad thanked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and the Directorate General of Sports for their cooperation and support.

He said persons with disabilities are an important part of society and should have equal opportunities to participate in recreational, cultural, sporting and other social activities.

He emphasised that creating opportunities for persons with disabilities should not be viewed merely as a welfare measure but as an essential part of building an inclusive and progressive society.

He also urged relevant institutions to strengthen their efforts and take effective measures to increase the participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in social and community activities.
