The TikToker has claimed that influential people abandoned him after a stampede at a wedding-related event in Sialkot killed two people. Police have registered a case, while authorities have disputed his claims about the event’s approval.
SIALKOT: Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlu has issued an emotional video statement, breaking down in tears while describing the legal and personal difficulties he says he has faced following a deadly stampede at a wedding-related gathering in Sialkot.
In the video, Patlu alleged that influential individuals who had previously maintained close ties with him distanced themselves after the tragedy, leaving him to face the situation alone.
The incident reportedly claimed the lives of two people and left several others injured, prompting police action and an investigation into the event’s arrangements.
Stampede at Wedding-Related Gathering Leaves Two Dead
According to reports, a large gathering was organised at Faraz Stadium on Daska Road in Sialkot in connection with Patlu’s wedding celebrations.
A crowd of hundreds reportedly assembled after prizes, including 50 motorcycles and a car, were announced. The resulting rush and pushing at the stadium entrance led to a stampede.
The victims were identified as Muhammad Aqeel and Muhammad Rehan. Several other people were reportedly injured.
Police registered a case against Patlu and other individuals over alleged negligence and shortcomings in the event’s arrangements. The investigation is ongoing, and responsibility for the incident has yet to be established through the legal process.
Patlu Disputes Responsibility for the Incident
In his video statement, Patlu said his intention had been to provide financial assistance to underprivileged families and arrange weddings for deserving women, rather than create a dangerous situation.
He maintained that permission, or a no-objection certificate (NOC), had been obtained for the gathering and argued that he should not be held responsible for an unforeseen incident.
However, the district administration reportedly disputed this account, stating that the NOC had already been cancelled over alleged violations of its conditions and the event starting before the permitted time.
The conflicting accounts are likely to remain a key part of the investigation into how the gathering was organised and whether adequate crowd-control measures were in place.
Appeals to Authorities for Justice
Patlu also alleged that people who had previously been close to him withdrew their support after he became embroiled in legal difficulties.
Citing health problems, he discussed his inability to appear before investigators and appealed to Field Marshal Asim Munir and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for justice.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the stampede and establish responsibility for the deaths and injuries.
