Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas reached the landmark of 900 first-class wickets during the second Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday, achieving the feat in his 222nd first-class match.
Abbas dismissed Ben Duckett for 17 to claim his 900th wicket and also removed England captain Joe Root during an impressive opening session. He took all three England wickets as the hosts reached 57 for 3 after 13 overs.
Abbas’ First-Class Record
The milestone adds to an outstanding first-class career in which Abbas has maintained a bowling average of 20.43. He has also recorded 57 five-wicket hauls and 15 10-wicket match performances.
With 900 wickets, Abbas moved to fifth among the leading first-class wicket-takers of the 21st century. England’s James Anderson leads the list with 1,157 wickets, followed by South Africa’s Simon Harmer with 1,056, Sri Lanka’s Malinda Pushpakumara with 1,010 and England’s Tim Murtagh with 959.

Abbas’ three early wickets put England under pressure in the opening session of the Lord’s Test, highlighting his continued effectiveness with the ball at the international level.
