ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) reviewed quality standards and benchmarking mechanisms for formal and non-formal education in a meeting convened by Secretary MoFEPT Nadeem Mahbub.
The meeting brought together education experts, representatives of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), implementing institutions and the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to discuss ways to strengthen education quality standards.
The discussion focused on mapping existing standards and identifying gaps, as well as benchmarking how educational inputs translate into teaching, learning outcomes and learner wellbeing.
Participants also discussed ways to embed quality measures into existing assessment, supervision and reporting mechanisms to make monitoring more practical and effective.
The forum reviewed standards for non-formal education, particularly in areas related to child protection, safety and wellbeing. It also examined inclusive education standards and referral pathways between formal schools and special education services.
The participants agreed to update existing standards and introduce additional benchmarks, including standards for digital integration, to ensure the quality framework remains meaningful, practical and responsive to emerging educational needs.
