Mehnaz, wife of Pakistani actor Moammar Rana, has obtained a khula (judicial dissolution of marriage) from a family court in Lahore, which has issued a decree in her favour, according to local media reports.
In her petition, Mehnaz stated that she married the actor on October 24, 1998, and that the couple had been married for approximately 28 years. They have two daughters.
Allegations of Domestic Abuse
According to the petition, Mehnaz alleged that Moammar Rana would drink alcohol, physically abuse her and use abusive language. She further claimed that such behaviour sometimes occurred in front of their daughters, who allegedly also experienced emotional distress and mistreatment as a result.
She also alleged that the actor was not meeting household expenses.
Mehnaz stated that family members had made repeated efforts to improve his behaviour, but those attempts had reportedly been unsuccessful.
The family court has issued the khula decree in Mehnaz’s favour. The allegations described in the petition have not been independently verified in the supplied report.
