During his visit to the Passport and Nadra Center in London, the Home Minister gave orders to speed up the issuance of passports for Pakistani citizens abroad.
Sensing the delay in issuing passports, Mohsin Naqvi ordered the issuance of passports within seven days to alienate Pakistanis seeking essential services. However, overseas Pakistanis who opt for normal delivery will receive their passports within 30 days.
According to Naqvi, this policy applies to all Pakistani missions abroad. He warned that delay in issuing passports will not be tolerated under any circumstances and action will be taken against the officials responsible.
It may be noted that currently, expatriate Pakistanis receive standard delivery passports in four months, while express delivery category passports are issued in one and a half months.
According to reports, the minister has set up a monitoring house to ensure the timely delivery of passports.
During his visit, Naqvi noted the shortage of staff and directed effective management to solve the problem. Naqvi was accompanied by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Muhammad Faisal.
