ISLAMABAD: Shan Masood has been retained as Pakistan’s captain for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting in the third week of August.
The decision was taken at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) meeting held in Lahore on Wednesday, where the issue of captaincy for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh was also discussed among other things.
Shan, 34, led Pakistan during the series against Australia where the team suffered a 0-3 deficit. In the 33 Test matches Shan played for the country, he scored 1,778 runs at an average of 28.7 runs per innings as a top-order batsman.
An official announcement on Shan’s appointment as Test team captain is expected in a few days.
News also learned that a short camp of team probables for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh will be established in Rawalpindi in the second week of August.
Pakistan red ball coach Jason Gillespie will travel to Australia with the Shaheens. The camp will probably be set up after his return.
Meanwhile, the ODI and T20 captain who will take Pakistan to Champions Trophy 2025 is yet to be decided.
