Mardan police officers trained in forensic investigation techniques at BKMC workshop

Mardan — A training workshop was held in Mardan for Station House Officers (SHOs) and Investigation Officers from multiple police stations, focusing on strengthening forensic practices and modern criminal investigation methods.

The workshop was organised by SP Investigation Mardan Maria Mustafa in collaboration with the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at MTI Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC), aimed at improving coordination between police and medical experts in criminal cases.

Focus on forensic science and evidence handling

Prof. Dr Fasseh-uz-Zaman, Chairperson of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, delivered a detailed session highlighting the role of forensic science in ensuring effective justice delivery. He stressed that accurate evidence collection, proper sample preservation, and maintaining the chain of custody are essential for securing convictions and protecting innocent individuals.

He further emphasized that strong coordination between the judiciary, police, and medical professionals is critical for a reliable medico-legal system.

Push for modern policing practices

Speaking on the occasion, SP Investigation Maria Mustafa said modern investigation techniques are essential to improve the quality and credibility of criminal investigations. She announced that similar workshops and awareness sessions would continue in collaboration with BKMC to enhance the professional capacity of law enforcement officers.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion among participants, focusing on improving cooperation between forensic experts and police officers for more effective investigation outcomes.
