Mardan Commissioner Orders Tougher Governance Oversight

MARDAN, Pakistan: Commissioner Mardan Division Javed Marwat has directed district administrations to strengthen governance, improve public service delivery, and ensure strict implementation of directives issued by the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a high-level review meeting held in Mardan.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners from across the division, focused on enhancing transparency, accountability, administrative efficiency, and citizen services through stronger monitoring and oversight mechanisms.

Focus on Transparency and Administrative Accountability

Addressing the participants, Commissioner Marwat instructed all Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners to implement the Chief Secretary’s directives in both letter and spirit. He emphasized that transparent governance, institutional accountability, and efficient public service delivery remain key priorities of the provincial government.

He directed district administrations to conduct regular surprise inspections of subordinate offices to monitor daily operations and improve administrative performance.

Revenue Offices and Public Services Under Closer Monitoring

The Commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners to carry out frequent inspections of Revenue Offices and Service Delivery Centres (SDCs) to prevent financial irregularities, corruption, and administrative malpractice.

He also directed district administrations to develop comprehensive strategies to eliminate irregularities, strengthen institutional accountability, and ensure the prompt resolution of public complaints.

Complaint Tracking and Public Feedback

Commissioner Marwat called for the establishment of a robust complaint tracking system in every district to ensure timely disposal of citizens’ grievances.

He further instructed district administrations to collect independent public feedback on the performance and conduct of subordinate officials. Additionally, Deputy Commissioners were asked to introduce a telephone-based citizen feedback system to assess the quality of services provided at government offices.

Enhanced Field Supervision

To strengthen field monitoring, all Revenue Officers were directed to prepare and strictly follow weekly schedules for field visits and official inspections.

The Commissioner said regular field supervision would improve administrative oversight and help identify operational issues at the local level.

Development Projects to Receive Stronger Oversight

Regarding ongoing development projects, Commissioner Marwat directed Deputy Commissioners to notify District-Level Monitoring Committees to oversee development schemes in coordination with Divisional Monitoring Teams.

He said the committees would ensure transparency, compliance with approved specifications, quality standards, and the timely completion of public development projects.

Concluding the meeting, Commissioner Marwat said effective implementation of these directives would improve governance, strengthen transparency, enhance public service delivery, and reinforce public confidence in district administrations across Mardan Division.
