RAWALPINDI, September 24 — Maldives Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, with talks focusing on regional security and bilateral cooperation.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and explored ways to further strengthen relations between Pakistan and the Maldives.
Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding ties with the Maldives and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The meeting also covered the regional security environment and opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Maldives People’s Majlis Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, according to ISPR.
He also expressed a desire to deepen bilateral engagement between the two countries and broaden cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting comes as Pakistan and the Maldives continue engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation across areas of shared interest.
