Lahore High Court Disposes of Plea Seeking Recovery of Suspect in Foreign Women Assault Case

Lahore High Court has disposed of a petition seeking the recovery of Waheed Tahir, a co-accused in the high-profile case involving the alleged assault of two foreign women, after police informed the court that he is in lawful custody on a five-day physical remand.

Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Mumtaz Bibi against the Inspector General of Punjab, the DIG Operations, and other police officials. The court concluded the proceedings after reviewing the police report, which confirmed the suspect’s current legal status.

Police Confirm Suspect Is on Physical Remand

During the hearing, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran appeared before the court and stated that Waheed Tahir is in police custody under a five-day physical remand granted by the relevant court.

The police maintained that the suspect is being held in accordance with legal procedures as part of the ongoing investigation.

Petitioner Raised Concerns Over Custody

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Waheed Tahir had been taken into custody unlawfully and that his family had not been informed about his whereabouts or condition.

The petition requested the court to order the suspect’s production, declare the detention unlawful, direct his release, and allow family members to meet him.

After considering the police report, the Lahore High Court disposed of the petition, bringing the proceedings to a close.
