LAHORE, September 2, 2026: The College of Nursing at Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Lahore General Hospital, held its first BS Nursing convocation on Wednesday, marking the graduation of 96 students from the programme’s pioneer batch.
Punjab Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan attended the ceremony and distributed certificates and honours among the graduates. He also awarded a Rs50,000 cash prize to the student who secured first position in the graduating batch.
The ceremony brought together senior hospital and academic officials, faculty members, parents and students to mark the completion of the institution’s first BS Nursing batch.
Law Minister Urges Graduates to Serve Humanity
Addressing the graduates, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan congratulated the students, their parents, teachers and the college administration on the milestone.
He said the graduates were entering professional life with not only academic qualifications but also practical skills, responsibility and a commitment to serving humanity.
The minister urged the pioneer batch not to be discouraged by challenges in their professional careers and said their ambitions should extend beyond securing employment.
He encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge, abilities and character to provide relief, hope and comfort to people in need.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan also highlighted the responsibility attached to being part of the institution’s first graduating class.
He said future generations would regard the pioneer batch as the first representatives of the College of Nursing, making their achievement both an honour and a responsibility.
First BS Nursing Batch Marks Institutional Milestone
Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal described the successful completion of the first BS Nursing batch as a historic milestone for the institution.
He acknowledged the contributions of the faculty, administration and other departments involved in educating and training the students.
“Being a pioneer is not only an honour but also a great responsibility,” Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said, emphasizing the significance of the first graduating class.
He also paid tribute to the parents of the graduates, noting their sacrifices and continued support in helping the students reach the milestone.
Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said nursing remains a fundamental component of the healthcare system and that properly trained nursing professionals play an important role in delivering quality care to patients.
Professional Oath Administered to Graduates
Principal College of Nursing Samina Kausar briefed participants about the college’s academic and training activities and the professional development of its students.
University of Health Sciences Registrar Kiran Fatima administered the professional oath to the graduating students.
Medical Superintendent Lahore General Hospital Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain, Deputy Director Nursing Shaheen Kausar, Prof. Amna Ahsan Cheema, Dr. Abdul Aziz, Dr. Sundas Tahir, Dr. Nadia Arshad, Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent Saima Fatah, administrative doctors, faculty members, parents and students also attended the ceremony.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates among the 96 graduates of the pioneer BS Nursing batch.
