The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Forests, Environment, Wildlife, and Climate Change, Pir Musavir Khan, visited the Kacha Ghari Forest Check post in Peshawar on Wednesday. During his visit, he inspected staff attendance, the attendance register, facilities, and other matters. On this occasion, he issued orders for the suspension of the in-charge due to negligence in duties and absenteeism of two staff members. He also made a phone call to the Chief Conservator of Forests, Khurshid Khan, and directed the suspension of Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Peshawar, Sattar Khan, for poor performance and failure to regularly monitor the forest check posts. An inquiry was also ordered against him.
Later, the Special Assistant visited the Forest Check post in Takhta Beg, located in Khyber District. During this visit, he reviewed the staff attendance, performance, bank challans related to imposed fines, and other records. Pir Musavir Khan also interacted with the drivers of vehicles carrying timber, checked the permits issued by the Forest Department, and gathered information about the behavior of the staff at the check post and any allegations of bribery. Following complaints of bribery from the drivers, the Special Assistant issued orders for the suspension of the Range Forest Officer of Khyber.
Speaking during his visit, Pir Musavir Khan emphasized that negligence in duties and corruption by employees is unacceptable. He sternly instructed the staff to correct their behavior or face the consequences. He further stated that surprise visits to forest and wildlife check posts and offices across the province would continue. He also warned officers that any absence of staff from forest check posts would result in action against the concerned officers.
