Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) carried out major enforcement operations in Kohat and Hangu, seizing large quantities of substandard food items and taking strict legal action against violators.
According to a spokesperson for the Authority, Food Safety Teams conducted inspections of milk shops and cold drink outlets in Hangu district. During the operation, more than 6,000 liters of expired cold drinks were recovered from a cold drink shop and seized, while the outlet was sealed on the spot. In a separate action, 50 liters of adulterated milk were recovered from a milk shop and destroyed immediately.

Meanwhile, in Kohat, Food Safety Teams, in coordination with the district administration, inspected multiple food businesses in Kohat Bazaar. During the inspection, over 2,000 liters of substandard and adulterated milk were recovered from a shop and disposed of on the spot. The shop owner was arrested and taken into custody.
The spokesperson added that heavy fines were imposed on several food businesses for violations of hygiene and food safety regulations, and further legal proceedings have been initiated against the offenders.
Director General KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Kashif Iqbal Jilani praised the performance of the Food Safety Teams for their effective operations. He urged citizens to report cases of adulteration and food safety violations so that prompt action can be taken.
He reiterated that the Authority’s mission is the complete elimination of adulterated and substandard food from the province and emphasized that no compromise will be made on public health and consumer safety.
