KARACHI: Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh planted a sapling outside LRBT on 9000 Road as part of a tree plantation campaign aimed at improving the environment and increasing green cover across the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Sheikh said tree plantation was essential to combat environmental pollution and make urban areas greener and healthier. He said trees not only enhance the beauty of cities but also play an important role in providing cleaner and healthier air.
Media representatives, officers and employees from various departments of TMC Korangi, along with relevant staff, were present during the plantation activity.
After planting the sapling, the Korangi Town chairman received a detailed briefing from concerned officials about plantation activities in the area, the development of green belts and arrangements for the care and maintenance of newly planted trees.
Naeem Sheikh said ensuring cleanliness, beautification and greenery across Korangi Town remained among the administration’s top priorities.
He stressed that tree plantation should not end with planting saplings, adding that regular watering, maintenance and protection were equally important. He directed relevant officers and staff to regularly monitor the planted trees and take effective measures to ensure their survival.
The chairman said increasing tree cover in urban areas could help create a more pleasant environment while reducing the intensity of heat and air pollution.
He also appealed to residents to actively participate in plantation efforts by planting trees around their homes, shops, roads and other available spaces and ensuring their proper care.
Naeem Sheikh said TMC Korangi was continuing various initiatives focused on cleanliness, beautification, environmental improvement and tree plantation, with more plantation drives planned across different areas in the coming days.
He said the broader objective was to provide residents with a cleaner, greener and more attractive urban environment.
At the conclusion of the activity, Naeem Sheikh reaffirmed his commitment to expanding environmental initiatives under the vision of “Green Korangi, Clean Korangi.”
