Lahore — KOICA and UN Women Pakistan, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), organized a district-level session of its Digital Startup Roundtable Series – Women Leading Innovation in Lahore, Punjab. The event gathered policymakers, tech leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, and young women entrepreneurs. Together, they highlighted the role of women in shaping Pakistan’s digital future.
As part of the Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment (D4WEE) project, KOICA and UN Women created a strong platform for collaboration, dialogue, and practical solutions. The Lahore session added momentum to earlier roundtables in Islamabad, Mardan, Multan, and Swabi. Moreover, it underlined the expansion of women-focused digital initiatives across the country.
The session featured two thematic discussions. The first explored policy and infrastructure. It focused on inclusive digital governance, better internet access, and bridging gaps for underserved communities. Experts, academics, and government representatives shared strategies to strengthen women’s access to technology.
The second discussion turned to growth pathways for women entrepreneurs. It moved beyond early-stage mentorship and addressed challenges of finance, market access, and networks. In addition, participants emphasized linking women-led startups with investors and building partnerships with businesses. They also stressed the importance of increasing visibility in both local and international supply chains.
KOICA and UN Women reaffirmed their commitment to empowering women through innovation and technology. By equipping women aged 18–35 with tools, skills, and networks, the D4WEE project promotes inclusive economic growth. Through training, mentorship, and private sector engagement, the initiative helps young women lead innovation in their communities. As a result, it strengthens Pakistan’s digital economy.
