MUMBAI: India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has asked his fans to stop calling him ‘King’ as he finds it embarrassing.
Kohli shared these thoughts during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) unbox event where the Indian Premier League (IPL) side unveiled their kit for the upcoming season.
“First you have to stop saying the word [king] to me. Please call me Virat. Don’t call me that word [king], I was just saying to Faf du Plessis that every year I feel embarrassed when you call me that,” Kohli said at the RCB unbox event on Tuesday.
RCB will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 22 at the Chepauk Stadium. The IPL final is scheduled for May 26, just five days before the men’s T20 World Cup kicks off in the USA and the Caribbean on June 1.
