A two-and-a-half-year-old child who was abducted from Rawalpindi has been safely rescued in Islamabad, while police have arrested the suspected kidnapper following a swift operation.
According to police, the child’s grandfather, Sarzameen Khan, reported that his grandson Umair was playing in a street when an unidentified man abducted him. A case was immediately registered, and SHO Muhammad Sajjad, along with Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Muhammad Shahzad, launched an intensive search.
Using CCTV footage from the area, investigators identified a man carrying the child away. The footage enabled police to trace the suspect’s movements, leading them to Mera Jafar in Islamabad.
During the operation, police safely recovered the child and arrested the suspect, identified as Fazal Rehman.
According to the initial investigation, the suspect is allegedly addicted to drugs and had been visiting his sister-in-law’s home in Sadiqabad, Rawalpindi. Police said he allegedly abducted the child while returning after noticing him playing outside.
Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway. After completing the legal formalities, the rescued child was reunited with his parents in the presence of the SHO and the investigating officer, bringing relief and joy to the family.
