Hollywood’s blockbuster Jumanji franchise is set to return with another action-packed adventure after Sony Pictures released the first trailer for “Jumanji: Open World.” The new installment brings back the fan-favorite cast and expands the mysterious game world with even greater challenges ahead.
The trailer reunites Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, who reprise their iconic roles as they once again enter the dangerous world of Jumanji. This time, the characters face more powerful enemies, larger environments, and unpredictable missions as they fight to survive.
The upcoming film serves as the sequel to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level. The two films became major global hits, earning a combined more than $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office and establishing Jumanji as one of Hollywood’s most successful adventure franchises.
The modern Jumanji series is inspired by the 1995 classic film starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst. While the original revolved around a magical board game, the reboot transformed the concept into a video game that pulls teenagers into a virtual world where they become different characters.
According to the newly released trailer, “Jumanji: Open World” will take the concept even further by introducing a much larger game universe filled with new dangers, hidden mysteries, and high-stakes adventures. The expanded setting suggests the characters will encounter more complex obstacles than ever before.
Although the film was initially scheduled to hit theaters on December 11, 2026, Sony later postponed the release to Christmas 2026, aiming to capitalize on the holiday movie season. Following the trailer’s debut, excitement has surged across social media, with many fans already calling it one of the most anticipated Hollywood releases of the year.
