RAWALPINDI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Farrukh Taj Khokhar has challenged his conviction in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Majid Satti, filing an appeal before the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court.

Alongside the appeal, Khokhar has also submitted an application seeking suspension of his sentence and release on bail pending the outcome of the case.

High Court Seeks Trial Record

The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court admitted both the appeal and the bail application for hearing and directed the relevant authorities to submit the complete trial record within one week.

The court will examine the record before proceeding further with the case.

Conviction Challenged

In his appeal, Farrukh Khokhar argued that he was wrongly convicted, claiming he was not present at the scene of the incident and that the trial court’s decision should be set aside.

The petition asks the High Court to suspend the sentence while the appeal is under consideration.

Notices Issued to Respondents

Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, who heard the matter, issued notices to the complainant and the government prosecutor, seeking their responses before the next hearing.

The High Court will take up the appeal after reviewing the trial record and hearing arguments from both sides.
