Tarbela Ghazi: On the call of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), all journalistic organizations in Ghazi staged a joint protest against the enforcement of the PECA Amendment Act 2025, which imposes restrictions on freedom of expression. A protest rally was also taken out from Sherjang Plaza to Marhaba Bakers, with participants chanting slogans against the PECA Act.

The demonstrators wore black armbands and carried placards inscribed with protest slogans. Journalists from all media organizations in Tehsil Ghazi participated under the banner of the Ghazi Journalist Community, voicing strong opposition to the new law.

Addressing the protestors, the speakers vehemently condemned the enforcement of the PECA Act, denouncing it as a blatant violation of fundamental human rights and freedom of expression. They demanded the immediate repeal of what they termed a “draconian law.”

The speakers criticized the government for introducing the PECA Act without consulting journalists, asserting that the law was being imposed through sheer force. They rejected the legislation outright, arguing that under the guise of curbing “fake news,” authorities were attempting to suppress free speech.

Journalists vowed to continue their struggle for truth and justice, declaring that no force could deter them from upholding the sanctity of their profession. “We will not allow any infringement on the integrity of our pen. Our fight will persist until our rightful demands are met,” they proclaimed.
