Journalist Ala Khan tortured by Maulana Shams Uddin’s Family in Waziristan

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A disturbing incident occurred in the Khangai area near the Angoor Adda border, where journalist Ala Khan Wazir was severely tortured on Wednesday by approximately 30 members of Maulana Shams Uddin’s Shamshi Khel family while reporting on the Khangai road under construction.

Local journalist Ala Khan Wazir recounted the harrowing experience, stating that he was detained in his house for three hours after the assault. Maulana Shams Uddin confiscated and destroyed his mobile phone.

Fortunately, Ala Khan Wazir was discharged from the district headquarters hospital Wana after receiving medical attention.

The Chairman of the Wana Union of Journalists, Adam Khan Wazir, vehemently condemned the violence against Ala Khan Wazir, demanding immediate arrest and punishment for those involved.

The Wana Union of Journalists asserted their commitment to freedom of expression, emphasizing that they will not compromise on truth and will continue to write facts as they are.

Deputy Commissioner of South Waziristan Lower, Muhammad Nasir, took notice of the tortured journalist Ala Khan Wazir and issued instructions to the DPO to prosecute those involved, ensuring that action will be taken according to the law and no one will be forgiven.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Union of Journalists has strongly condemned the brutal assault on Ala Khan Wazir, a member of the Wana Press Club.
The attack, carried out by local contractors, has been widely denounced by the journalist community in the province.

Despite the difficulties, Ala Khan Wazir remains resolute and committed to his work. Shams Momand, President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Union of Journalists, has issued a statement emphasizing the journalist community’s unwavering dedication to principled journalism.
They refuse to succumb to pressure and will continue to expose corrupt individuals, ensuring truth and accountability prevail.

Meanwhile a meeting was held at the Mehsud Press Club, chaired by President Farooq Mehsud, to address the heinous violence inflicted upon Ala Khan Wazir. The members of the press club collectively expressed their deep sorrow and outrage, demanding immediate and stringent legal action against those responsible for the attack.
