SWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that journalism is the fourth pillar of the state, and resolving the challenges faced by journalists is among the top priorities of his government.
He praised the role of Swat-based journalists, stating that they have always guided the nation in difficult times, and the government not only recognizes their positive contributions but also stands firmly with them.
The Chief Minister expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation from the Swat Press Club in Peshawar. The delegation was led by President of Swat Press Club Niaz Ahmad Khan, and included President of Swat Union of Journalists Swat Syed Shahabuddin, General Secretary of Swat Press Club Shafiullah, and senior governing body member Fazal Rahim Khan. Provincial Minister for Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, Fazal Hakim Khan Yousafzai, was also present at the meeting.
The delegation held a detailed discussion on issues faced by journalists and raised key demands including provision of modern facilities, establishment of a journalist welfare fund, and transparent distribution of government advertisements.
The Chief Minister attentively listened to the concerns and assured immediate action.
He said relevant departments would be instructed to work on the development and support of press clubs.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister Fazal Hakim Khan appreciated the role of Swat journalists in promoting positive journalism. He said their contribution in highlighting peace, development, and public issues is commendable, and the government would continue to fully support them.
