KP plans 16 picnic spots, 9 tourist facilities to boost tourism

ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (ABC): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has included the development of 16 picnic spots and tourist facilitation services at nine destinations under its tourism development schemes.
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, these initiatives form part of broader interventions being undertaken across the province, with a focus on Chitral under various tourism development programmes.
According to the documents, the schemes include the construction of jeepable tracks in tourist-bearing areas to improve access to different locations.
The documents further state that camping pod sites and rest houses are also included in the list of interventions.
In addition, community-based accommodation facilities are being promoted as part of the initiatives outlined in the documents.
Tourist facilitation services are planned at nine destinations alongside the development of infrastructure, including picnic spots and access routes.
Other measures mentioned in the documents include feasibility studies for tourism development projects and the arrangement of events in the tourism and culture sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The documents also refer to initiatives related to “Tirich Mir Year 2024–25” as part of the province’s tourism activities.
In addition, the promotion of cultural and community-based activities is included as part of tourism-related efforts in the province.
The documents state that coordination is being carried out with provincial line departments and district administrations, as well as with relevant federal ministries and organisations.
They further note that engagement is also being maintained with national and international tourism stakeholders for the implementation of tourism initiatives.
