KARACHI: Jinnah Town Chairman Rizwan Abdul Sami visited Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah in UC-5, Jamshed Road, to review arrangements for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS) and assess civic facilities along the procession routes.

The visit focused on ensuring smooth traffic management, public safety, sanitation, street lighting and drainage facilities for mourners participating in Chehlum processions.

Assistant Commissioner Jamshed Zone Bilal Alvi, Focal Person Naveed Siddiqui, Coordinator Umair, and officials from relevant municipal departments accompanied the chairman during the inspection.

During the visit, Rizwan Abdul Sami met with the management of Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah to discuss administrative arrangements for the Chehlum processions, mourning gatherings and designated procession routes.

The Imambargah administration also highlighted civic issues and shared recommendations regarding public facilities and local infrastructure in the surrounding areas.

The chairman inspected roads, storm-water drains, streetlights, footpaths and other municipal infrastructure around the Imambargah. He directed officials to restore all faulty streetlights immediately, complete drain cleaning and improve road conditions through urgent repair and leveling work to ensure convenience for mourners.

The inspection also included a review of encroachments along the procession routes. Rizwan Abdul Sami instructed the anti-encroachment staff to issue notices to illegal occupants and take action in accordance with the law to remove all obstacles that could disrupt the movement of mourners.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said providing essential civic services, including sanitation, lighting, drainage and well-maintained procession routes, remains Jinnah Town’s top priority during Chehlum.

He directed all relevant departments to complete development and administrative work on time to ensure a safe, clean and well-managed environment for mourners throughout the commemorative events.
