JD Vance arrives in Islamabad ahead of US-Iran talks

ISLAMABAD: US Vice President JD Vance is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday night, leading a high-level delegation for upcoming negotiations with Iran, according to official sources.

The visit comes ahead of planned talks between US and Iranian officials, scheduled to begin on Friday, with the main round of negotiations set for Saturday. The discussions follow recent diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The US delegation accompanying Vance includes senior officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, along with additional security experts and support staff arriving in Islamabad to assist with the talks.

Iran’s delegation is also expected to reach the capital on Thursday night, led by Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Officials said multiple rounds of discussions are expected to take place in Islamabad over the coming days as both sides engage in dialogue on key issues.
